Schilthorn - Piz Gloria

The Schilthorn area stands for View – unforgettable vistas, Thrill – adrenaline-filled experiences and Chill – perfect relaxation in the unspoilt mountain landscape. The aerial cableway connects Stechelberg in the Lauterbrunnen Valley with the car-free mountain villages of Gimmelwald and Mürren and runs in half an hour via Birg station to the Schilthorn at 2970 m.a.s.l. Surrounded by more than 200 mostly high-alpine peaks – including the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau – sits the Piz Gloria. Instantly recognisable, the iconic summit building takes pride of place on the Schilthorn summit.

Diners can watch the magnificent mountain scenery glide by while enjoying a delicious meal at the 360° Piz Gloria Restaurant. The table-service restaurant rotates around its own axis in just 45 minutes.
Between October 1968 and May 1969, the Schilthorn was the principal film location for "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Visitors can dive straight into the action in Bond World, the interactive exhibition with a tour of 7 key scenes and background stories from the movie.

After all the sights and sensations on the Schilthorn, the Skyline Walk observation deck and the Thrill Walk cliff walkway suspended over the abyss offer spine-tingling moments at Birg middle station.
If you prefer a less action-packed experience, Allmendhubel, Mürren's somewhat smaller local mountain, is the place to go. Just 4 minutes away by funicular railway, this is a great starting point for numerous hikes. Foodies can enjoy a delicious meal and soak up the views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau on the sun terrace of the Allmendhubel Panorama Restaurant while the children let off steam in the Flower Park adventure playground.
